“Roses”, a self-produced single from Austin Sexton, is the summer hit we’ve all been thirsty for since quarantine began. Blending R&B, Funk, & Soul with traces of alternative, this groove-packed single sends musical nostalgia through every part of the body. Sexton takes inspiration from Kendrick Lamar, Thundercat and Outkast through the record while incorporating his own signature melodies and arrangements.
Austin takes the listener through a journey of lost-love and heartache; a story where the one who is about to get away is left with an ultimatum, “All in or All Out”. Sexton leaves his heart out in the open with every sentence; letting his lost loved one know he isn’t where he wants to be, but he’d do anything to make things work.
“No I ain’t got it like that, but I can get it for you. I dig myself in a hole, I hate the fact that I do. It hurts that money’s so tight, but whats a dollar or two? Girl just to show you I care, one day say that i do”.
